    Town of Davidson hires Affordable Housing & Equity Director

    DAVIDSON, NC (LOOTPRESS) – The Town of Davidson is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexander Cahill as the Affordable Housing & Equity Director.

    Alexander hails from the Twin Cities of Minnesota and is the eldest of six siblings. He holds a degree in Urban Studies & Political Economies from the University of Minnesota. His previous roles include serving with the City & County of Durham, where he oversaw various divisions such as Growth Management, Strategic Support, Training & Onboarding, Planning for Affordability, Racial Equity & Inclusion, and Equitable Engagement.

    He also has experience working with the City of West Des Moines, Iowa, focusing on equity and comprehensive planning. Before his tenure in local government, Alexander worked in non-profit healthcare administration and was part of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, and Accessibility Patient Care Team.

    Alexander has been involved in various professional associations, having served as the Vice Chair of the American Planning Association’s LGBTQ+ Planners Division and as a member of the American Planning Association’s National Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee. He currently serves as a member of the Government Alliance on Race & Equity (GARE).

    Affordable Living has been a key priority goal for the Town of Davidson’s bi-annual Strategic Plans since 2021. The town’s leadership aims to cultivate a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging while advancing its Affordable Housing program.

    The focus on enhancing Affordable Living efforts is outlined in both the Davidson Comprehensive Plan and the Board of Commissioners’ Strategic Plan , leading to the approval of the Town’s Affordable Housing Needs Assessment Implementation.

    The Affordable Housing & Equity Board, a volunteer group comprising residents, will collaborate directly with the Affordable Housing & Equity Director to support the town’s priorities established by the Implementation.

    Assistant Town Manager Austin Nantz expressed his enthusiasm about Alexander joining the team and highlighted his alignment with the town’s core values. In response to his new role, Alexander expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Davidson community.
