CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Chairman Charlotte R. Lane has praised this year’s 72-hour International Roadcheck inspections, part of the annual three-nation highways program , as a “complete success” for the Public Service Commission of West Virginia .

Officers from the Commission’s Transportation Division conducted 438 commercial vehicle inspections from May 14 to May 16, deploying 47 PSC officers during Roadcheck.

International Roadcheck project identified 322 violations and placed 53 vehicles out of service at the inspection sites near Morgantown and Winfield, as well as along the state’s highways.

Each inspection involved a thorough 37-step procedure to ensure commercial motor vehicle and driver safety and compliance.  Lane expressed satisfaction with this year’s effort, calling it a “complete success” and commending the top-notch inspectors for making a difference.

West Virginia’s participation in the North American inspection program, which includes Canada and Mexico, focused on tractor-trailer protection systems, controlled substances, and alcohol possession.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance sponsors the program, which sees over 1.8 million inspections annually.

The only trucks I've seen them target are local independent trucks. It's never the sand and gas well trucks that are destroying our roads and killing other drivers and themselves
