WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Severe storms have caused tens of thousands of power outages and storm damages throughout West Virginia.

As of 7:27 PM, 83,091 people are without power in West Virginia.

Multiple counties throughout West Virginia are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch through this evening.

Along with power outages, damages to property have been reported including multiple downed trees blocking roadways.

According to Appalachian Power, more than 66,000 of its customers are without power as of Sunday evening.

Officials with Appalachian Power say crews will assess the situation once the severe weather threat subsides.

More severe weather is expected tonight and Monday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston, severe storms are moving across the area with damaging winds, hail, and maybe an isolated tornado being the main hazards.

Heavy downpours are also expected to cause some localized to isolated flash flooding tonight.

Isolated to scattered severe storms may develop as a cold front crosses the area tomorrow.

Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats.

Flash flooding remains a concern, particularly for areas impacted by previous rounds of heavy rain.
