GRANDVIEW, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A ceremony was held on Wednesday morning to celebrate the dedication of new park playground equipment at New River National Park & Preserve in Grandview.

Among those who spoke to commemorate the occasion were National Park Foundation Senior Vice President, Steve Grourke, who commended the collaborative effort as an example of how, through teamwork, impactful support to can be provided to parts across the state and nation.

“Grandview is a great example of how, through partnerships and leverage, we can support the needs of the National Park Service and the needs of local communities, like we are here today,” said Grourke, noting that such collaborations bring funding to significant projects which otherwise would not have been possible.

Senior Vice President and General Counsel for BHE GT&S, Anne Bomar addressed those in attendance as well, expressing support for the efforts of Friends of the New River Gorge and National Park Foundation and extending gratitude to the folks who work to make projects which help the state to progress a reality.

“We are honored to support both the National Park Foundation and the Friends of the New River Gorge in their important work to sustain places like this through generations to come,” said Bomar. “On behalf of BHE GT&S, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the teams of people that work behind the scenes to help this park come alive to the visitors, keeping the public areas open, maintaining safe trails, [and] providing educational experiences for visitors. Your work helps to create lasting memories for West Virginians and those of us who appreciate the state.”

Those in attendance for the dedication also heard from representatives of national leaders including U.S. Congresswoman Carol Miller , U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, all of whom praised the entities and individuals working to make the State of West Virginia a great place to work and to live.
