CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – State Treasurer Riley Moore announced today that the Unclaimed Property Division returned over $3.1 million in funds to individuals, businesses, and organizations in July. “

July was the tenth-highest month for returns in the history of our program,” Treasurer Moore stated. “Usually, July is one of our slower months for returns because of the processing breaks needed as we finalize the previous fiscal year and move into the new one. Therefore, this $3.1 million return is particularly impressive for this time of year.”

During July, the Unclaimed Property Division processed a total of $3,120,509 across 1,565 claims, marking the first month of the state’s 2025 Fiscal Year. This follows another record-breaking $28 million returned in the previous fiscal year. While the Office is returning funds at an unprecedented rate, it is also receiving new claims at nearly record levels.

The State Treasurer’s Office currently has close to $436 million in listings within its database. For additional information or to check if the Unclaimed Property Division holds any funds for you, visit www.WVUnclaimedProperty.gov .
