MULLENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Justice announced the grand opening of the newly relocated and updated Nature Center at Twin Falls Resort State Park.

“The enhanced Nature Center improves the Twin Falls experience for families and visitors by offering better accessibility and a stronger link to the natural features that define us as West Virginians,” stated Governor Jim Justice.

“Moving the Nature Center to the lodge provides ample parking and allows guests to avoid driving to a different part of the park.” “This new location makes it easy for visitors to quickly stop by during their stay, making it a convenient and essential part of their Twin Falls experience ,” noted WV DNR Director Brett McMillion.

Previously situated on Smokey Ridge Road, the former Nature Center required visitors to drive and had limited parking options.

The new facility features a spacious, open layout and modern amenities, including a designated area for classroom activities and a cutting-edge audiovisual system.

“The renovation project, which started in April 2024, included substantial upgrades such as fixing plumbing issues, installing a drop ceiling with recessed lighting, adding a durable floating floor suitable for high traffic, and updating the drywall and walls with shiplap style,” explained West Virginia State Parks Acting Chief Dillard Price. “Other improvements included new habitats for animal ambassadors, installation of WiFi and telephone services, and the addition of window and door wraps featuring graphics of native wildlife.”

During the Justice administration, Twin Falls Resort State Park has received considerable investments, including the introduction of a new splash pad, pro shop, a roof for the Monarch Lodge, and additional enhancements, amounting to over $250 million in total investment across the West Virginia State Parks system.
