BELLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Riverside High School is gearing up for the start of the new academic year, which will officially begin on August 16th.

Principal Stephen W. Loftis Jr. has announced information regarding class start time and a new concealed weapons detection system that will be put in place.

Parents and guardians are reminded that the school day will begin promptly at 8:25 AM, with student drop-off allowed as early as 7:45 AM.

There will be no adult supervision before 7:45 AM, so parents are advised to ensure their children arrive after that time.

In a continued effort to maintain a safe learning environment, Kanawha County Schools has announced that a concealed weapons detection system will be installed at Riverside High School later this year.

The system, provided by Cramer Security Company, will require all students to pass through it before entering the building.

As a result, students will not be permitted to enter the school before 7:45 AM once the system is operational.

Principal Loftis has assured parents that more detailed information will be provided as the installation date approaches.
