    Beckley Police pursue fleeing driver across multiple jurisdictions

    BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Beckley Police Department (BPD) was involved in a high-speed pursuit that began in Raleigh County and ended in Nicholas County.

    According to the BPD, in the early hours of August 12, 2024, a routine traffic stop by the BPD escalated into a high-speed pursuit.

    The incident began on Neville Street in Beckley, where the driver of a vehicle decided to flee from officers.

    The pursuit, which saw officers activate their emergency lights and sirens, extended through several areas within Beckley before the driver left the city limits.

    Deputies from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department joined the chase as it continued through multiple jurisdictions.

    The pursuit ended in Summersville when the fleeing vehicle crashed.

    The incident is currently under investigation by the Summersville Police Department.

    Further details about the crash and the driver’s condition have not yet been released.
