MONTGOMERY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Upper Kanawha Valley will recognize Mountain State sports legend, Archie Talley Jr. with an educational institution to be named in his honor.

The former Montgomery Preparatory Academy has been newly dedicated to usher in what is being called a new era of education in the area. This will feature a significant emphasis on math, reading, vocational, and entrepreneurial educations, as well as a focus on emotional intelligence.

Named for Mountain State icon Archie B. Talley Jr., the institution will strive to honor the athlete’s message of education, love, and healthy living, as well as Talley’s encouragement of young state residents to eschew temptations such as drugs in favor of a healthy lifestyle and value placed on education.

Archie Talley Middle & High School has reportedly been Cognia Accredited to service students grades 6-12. Martial Arts fighter and WWE Tough Enough champion, Daniel Puder, who has also partnered with boxing legend Mike Tyson for the establishment of educational institutions, remarked upon Talley’s inspirational legacy.

“Archie has spent his whole life helping kids, and we have dedicated our school to do just that,” said Puder. “He is an inspirational role model for our students.”

Montgomery Mayor, Greg Ingram, also commented on the development, declaring, “Archie is an icon in West Virginia and beloved here in Montgomery .”

The school will aim to ensure that students are ready to take on life outside the classroom. This will entail equipping students with the necessary skills to achieve success in modern society.

Archie Talley Jr. is a West Virginia Sports Hall of Fame inductee, as well as an inductee in the Small College National Basketball Hall of Fame. He was a Harlem Globetrotters member and was drafted by the New York Knicks and would later compete as a member of the New Jersey Nets.
