Scott Worley was well-known for his deep knowledge of local history and his commitment to the Beckley Events committee, where he was a valued member for many years.

He and his wife, Cindy, met while volunteering for the Main Street program, beginning a partnership that lasted many years.

Cindy Worley shared the heartbreaking news,

“They say a light shines brightest before it burns out,” she said. “I guess my Scott was giving me one last light show yesterday, because today he joined the lights in the Heavens. Scott passed away late this afternoon. I never knew a heart could break into as many pieces as mine has, and I have no idea what I will do without him.”

The Beckley Events committee expressed their sadness at the news, highlighting Scott’s contributions over the years.

“Scott was an outstanding volunteer, always helpful and kind,” the committee shared in a statement. “He knew much about the history of our community. Scott and Cindy actually met volunteering for the Main Street program many years ago. We will miss him! Please keep Cindy in your prayers.”
