    One man dead following crash in Summers County

    SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One person has died following a single-vehicle crash in Summers County.

    According to the West Virginia State Police, on Monday morning, August 19, 2024, a fatal car crash occurred on Beech Run Road in Summers County.

    Corporal N.C. Boothe responded to the scene at approximately 8:30 AM.

    Upon arrival, Corporal Boothe found that a 2020 GMC Sierra pickup truck had veered off the roadway and collided with a telephone pole.

    The driver, identified as 65-year-old Billy Joe Willey Jr. of Jumping Branch, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Mr. Willey’s body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Charleston for an autopsy.

    The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
