Berkeley County shooting leaves two dead

MARTINSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two individuals have been confirmed dead following a Berkeley County shooting on Monday.

The Martinsburg Police Department reports that, just prior to 3:00pm on the afternoon of Monday, August 19, 2024, officers with the MPD responded to reports of a shooting at an E. Burke Street residence.

Once authorities arrived at the scene of the residence – located at 326 E. Burke Street – one male victim was discovered inside. This victim is reported to have been in a deceased state at the time he was discovered by law enforcement officers.

Additional investigation led to the discovery of a second victim – also male – who was located near the entrance of the residence in question. This individual was not deceased at the time of discovery and was immediately transported to Berkeley Medical Center to receive treatment for injuries sustained. The second victim would be pronounced dead at Berkeley Medical Center.

Authorities indicate that the two male victims are believed to have been the only parties involved in the Berkeley County shooting, and that no ongoing threat to the public has emerged in relation to or as a result of the incident.

Law enforcement has indicated that the identities of the victims involved will not be released until such a time as family members of the deceased have been notified of the events that occurred.
