City of Beckley to partner with Just for Kids for New River Park Family Fun Day

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Just for Kids Child Advocacy Center will be partnering with the City of Beckley for a Family Fun Day event to take place at New River Park later this month.

Community members can prepare for a day of activities, games, free food, and information from 11:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

Over a dozen community partners will be participating in the community gathering, which will include multiple water-themed activities. Children planning to attend have been encouraged to bring along their decorated trikes and bikes to participate in a parade around New River Park which is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm that afternoon.

Also featured will be the chalk fairy, karaoke, a photo and selfie booth, balloon animals, bounce house, and hula-hoop contest.

Provided at the shelter near the park entrance will be snacks and drinks which will be made available at no cost while supplies last. Guests will also get the opportunity to get an up-close look at a Beckley Fire Department fire engine from 1:00 to 2:00pm.

Live entertainment will be provided in the form of an acoustic performance by David Cook of Quiet Enough from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the park shelter.

The event came about as the result of the Partners in Prevention grant for Raleigh County which is held by Just for Kids.

“This grant focuses on collaboration and innovation between community partners to serve children and families in West Virginia and to promote healthy families,” says Just for Kids Operations Coordinator, Ria Mitchell. “When the City of Beckley offered to host the event at the park, we were ecstatic because their support in our organization exemplifies the purpose of this event.”
