Bluefield coffee shop receives economic development grant

BLUEFIELD, VA (LOOTPRESS) – The Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority announced this week that local coffee shop, The Roasted Been of Virginia, LLC has been named the recipient of a substantial grant geared toward local economic development.

Opened in Downtown Bluefield by owners Larry and Donna Kinzer, The Roasted Bean of Virginia, LLC was named the recipient of the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority Seed Capital Matching Grant totaling at $10,000.

Funds issued through seed capital grants draw from regional funds paid by the natural gas industry and received by the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority, also known as the VCEDA.

“The Roasted Bean is another example of creative tourism as the business appeals to both locals and tourists alike,” said Jonathan Belcher, VCEDA executive director/general counsel. “The business projects six full-time and six part-time employees within five years.”

“Through warm hospitality and a welcoming ambience, we are creating a haven where every sip tells a unique story,” Larry Kinzer noted in the application for funding. “Our vision is to foster connection that allow our patrons to share this experience with locals and visitors alike, to nurture creativity though supporting local artisans and to provide a legacy of love, care and the pursuit of a truly great cup of coffee.”

The Kinzers’ granddaughter, Leandra Hicks acts as General Manager for the local establishment, which employees one employee on a full-time basis and nine employees on a part-time basis.
