ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Administrators with Concord University are celebrated increased enrollment for the start of the 2024-2025 academic year in spite of nationwide forecasts for declining enrollment.

Total enrollment registered 1,956 students at the close of the first week, according to reports. This figure served as an 8.8% increase over the Fall census, itself a high-achieving enrollment semester.

Enrollment included the welcoming of 455 incoming freshmen along with over 150 students having transferred from 91 institutions to make their way to Concord.

“This result comes from the good work our entire faculty and staff is doing each day, and I could not be prouder,” said Concord University President, Kendra Boggess. “We continue to make strides in student success, our academic programming is rigorous and expanding with new opportunities, we are enhancing the student experience, and our facility improvements ensures this remains The Campus Beautiful.”

The institution’s welcome week saw full residence halls due to increased enrollment. 74 freshman students are PROMISE Scholars with 36% having earned college credit in high school, bringing along with them an average of 17 completed college credit hours.

The 2024-2025 student body for Concord University represents over 30 countries, 29 U.S. states, and 53 counties throughout West Virginia. This entails 600 student-athletes across 15 athletic programs.

Leading undergrad majors based on the first week’s figures for the Fall 2024 term enrollment in descending order are business, education, social work, health sciences, and biology.
