Man punches girlfriend after she couldn’t locate her safety deposit box keys

GAULEY BRIDGE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man punched his girlfriend over her inability to locate keys to her safety deposit box.

On the evening of Monday, August 26th, 2024, Deputy T. Farley of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call reporting a physical domestic disturbance at a residence on Gauley River Road in the Gauley Bridge area. Upon arriving at the scene, the deputy encountered the alleged perpetrator, Russell Williams, and promptly escorted him to the front of the patrol car as Officer Roberts of the Montgomery Police Department stood by.

The investigation revealed that Williams and his girlfriend had become embroiled in a heated verbal altercation over her inability to locate the keys to her safety deposit box. Tensions escalated as she attempted to leave the premises in her vehicle, at which point Williams allegedly struck her in the face with a closed fist.

The deputy observed clear signs of the assault, noting bruising and swelling on her forehead. Despite the physical injury, she declined medical treatment, though the deputy ensured she understood the process for obtaining a domestic violence protective order.

With the evidence gathered, Deputy Farley placed Williams under arrest and transported him to the Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment by a magistrate judge.
