KIMBALL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On the evening of Saturday, August 31st, 2024, the Kimball Police Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint along a stretch of U.S. Route 52 within the corporate limits of the city.

Motorists can expect this DUI checkpoint to be in operation from 6:00 PM until 1:00 AM the following morning, as law enforcement officers work to identify and apprehend any individuals who may be operating their vehicles under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The purpose of these routine checkpoints is to promote public safety on the roadways by deterring impaired driving and quickly removing intoxicated drivers from circulation before they can cause potentially devastating accidents.

Drivers approaching the checkpoint location on U.S. Route 52 will be required to slowly navigate through the designated area, where officers will visually inspect each vehicle and may request further evaluation if they observe any signs of impairment.

Those wishing to avoid the checkpoint entirely can choose to take an alternate route, utilizing either State Route 161 or State Route 103 as a detour around the enforcement zone.

These alternate routes may add a few extra minutes to one’s commute, but provide a convenient way for sober motorists to steer clear of the DUI checkpoint and avoid any potential delays or inconveniences.

Overall, the Kimball Police Department’s DUI checkpoint on August 31st aims to promote responsible driving behaviors and make the community’s streets safer for all who travel them.
