    MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – UPDATE 4:04 PM 8/31/24: According to WVU Football, tentatively, gates will reopen at 4:08 PM with a resumption of play at 4:23 PM.

    UPDATE 3:55 PM 8/31/24: The game is set to resume at 4:05 PM on FOX.

    ORIGINAL STORY: In a highly anticipated season opener, the No. 8 Penn State Nittany Lions hold a 20-6 lead over the West Virginia Mountaineers at halftime in Morgantown.

    The game was suspended following halftime due to lighting in the area.

    Penn State has dominated in total yardage, racking up 248 yards compared to West Virginia’s 163.

    The Nittany Lions have shown a strong passing game, with 199 passing yards, while the Mountaineers have managed only 89 through the air.

    On the ground, West Virginia has outpaced Penn State slightly, rushing for 74 yards compared to Penn State’s 49.

    Penn State’s offense has been efficient, averaging 9.2 yards per play, significantly higher than West Virginia’s 3.7 yards per play.

    Both teams have recorded 11 first downs, but Penn State has been more effective on third down, converting 1 of 4 attempts, while West Virginia has struggled, converting only 3 of 10.

    Special teams have seen both teams punt twice, and the Mountaineers have managed to avoid penalties entirely, while Penn State has committed two penalties for 10 yards.
