MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia University (WVU) Police Department has introduced a new online safety training module to provide the campus community with essential safety information on demand.

The Campus Safety Online Training module was created in response to community feedback calling for more training opportunities.

It aims to equip students, faculty, and staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate various safety situations.

Topics covered in the module include:

    Active shooter preparedness

Gun safety and Campus Carry policies

    De-escalation techniques and workplace violence

    Fire and building evacuations

Recognizing suspicious packages and responding to bomb threats

The module is available online at any time, offering flexibility for users to complete the training at their convenience.

Additionally, groups interested in more detailed safety education can request in-person training from the WVU Police Department (UPD).

The LiveSafe app is also available for download, enabling discreet, two-way communication with campus police.

To stay informed about emergencies and incidents on or near campus, the WVU community is encouraged to sign up for the WVU Alert system.
