West Virginia school district receives threat prompting law enforcement response

MORGAN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – UPDATE 9/9/24 12:15 PM: On Monday morning , the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) received a report about a social media post from an adult claiming a juvenile was bringing a weapon to Berkeley Springs High School (BSHS).

Law enforcement and school officials promptly investigated the claim and have determined there is no credible threat to the students at BSHS.

As of 11:30 AM, there is no evidence supporting the threat’s validity.

Investigators have identified a potential link between the social media post and an unrelated incident that occurred last Friday evening.

The investigation into this separate incident is ongoing.

The MCSD is working with the West Virginia State Police to resolve the matter.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, on Monday morning, Morgan County Schools were alerted to a threat made on social media.

Morgan County Schools Superintendent Banks and Morgan County Sheriff Bohrer confirmed that the district has been working closely to assess the threat’s credibility and ensure safety measures are in place.

Currently, there is no credible danger to student safety.
