MINGO COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A West Virginia elementary school canceled classes on Tuesday following a threat.

The Mingo County School Board of Education (MCBOE) announced today that Burch P-K-8 School canceled classes and sent students home following a potential threat.

The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department and the board of education are currently investigating the situation.

According to the MCBOE, the threat at Burch P-K-8 appears to be connected to a similar incident reported in Mercer County yesterday, as well as the precautionary lockdown in all Mingo County schools on Monday.

The Fusion Center, a department of Homeland Security, is involved in analyzing the threats to determine their origin.

Authorities have stated that the threats do not appear to be credible.

The district urges students, staff, and the community to report any threat information immediately.

The “See Send” app, available on student laptops and any smartphone, allows for quick communication with authorities.

The district encourages everyone to download the app to help ensure the safety of students and staff.

More information on the “See Send” app will be posted on the district’s website.

I hope whoever is making all these threats is charged with terroristic threats, conspiracy to commit a felony, and whatever other charges they can add in. I also hope that they are depicted as a coward for making all these threats. Terrorizing communities, homes, families, little kids is not a joke or a way to get out of school. Kids look at this as "just another day at school" why are we so complacent with normalizing this. What can we do to change this?
