SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Nicholas County Schools will be closed on Thursday, September 12, 2024, following an “unsubstantiated threat” made against one of the schools in the district.

According to Nicholas County Schools (NCS), the closure applies to both students and employees as authorities conduct a thorough investigation to ensure the safety of everyone.

In a statement from NCS, district officials emphasized that student and staff safety is the top priority.

“This will allow for a complete and thorough investigation and ensure the safety of our students and faculty,” NCS said.

While schools will remain closed, central office employees are expected to report to work on a regular schedule.

Principals have been instructed to report to the central office at 10 AM.

A decision on after-school activities will be made after further information becomes available.
