CADCA, DFC Support Program to partner with MCCHC for virtual reality initiative

PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A new partnership between the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), Mercer County Coalition for Healthy Community (MCCHC), and the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program which will utilize advanced virtual reality technology for training in administration of Narcan.

Supported by Walmart, the groundbreaking initiative provide an interactive and immersive educational experience which simulates actual overdose situations to help participants become better prepared for effectively administering Narcan in emergency scenarios. The approach seeks to equip those participating with the necessary skills to respond with confidence in critical situations.

Walmart will provide technologically advanced virtual reality headsets to be used for the training, which will be open to all community members as part of Concord University ‘s Save a Life Day, set to take place on September 26 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with CADCA , DFC, and Walmart on this project,” Mercer County Coalition for Healthy Communities Chairperson, Candace Harless said. “Virtual reality offers a highly engaging and realistic training environment, which we believe will improve the effectiveness of Narcan administration education and help to combat the stigma associated with overdose.”

MCCHC commended the efforts of Walmart in the initiative, stating, “Walmart’s contribution of VR headsets is crucial in making this technology accessible to a wide range of community organizations, educational institutions, and healthcare providers, enhancing the reach and impact of the training.”
