OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Oak Hill has announced an immediate ban on outdoor burning within city limits, effective September 12, 2024, and continuing until further notice.

Oak Hill Fire Chief Tim Richardson has issued the order in response to abnormally dry conditions in the area.

According to officials, trees are shedding leaves prematurely, and grass has become dry and brittle.

The dry conditions, combined with expected increases in wind and the absence of rain in the forecast, have heightened the risk of wildfires.

In recent days, several brush fires have already been reported in the region.

Residents are urged to comply with the burning ban and avoid any outdoor fires.
