SOPHIA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raleigh County’s very first mac & cheese festival, “ Mountains of Mac ” was held over the weekend to a “mactacular” reception from members of the community.

Organized by the Hope in the Mountains organization, the event featured multiple mac & cheese vendors – including Hospice of Southern WV, Raleigh County Dems, and RCCAA – whose dishes were sampled and judged by attendees, as well as a distinguished panel of judges selected for the event.

The inaugural festival saw an impressive turnout on Saturday evening and was supported through sponsorships from the Town of Sophia, Pioneer Community Bank, ARH, China One, Crab Orchard Pharmacy, McDonald’s of Raleigh County, The Register Herald, and Alphas Records Management. Community response was so positive, in fact, that vendors’ mac & cheese supplies were depleted before the event could even reach its conclusion.

Many non-mac & cheese vendors were also on-hand to provide support, including Hilltop Coffee, Freeze Louise, Patty’s Blessings, Pucker Shuckers, and more. Live entertainment was provided for the festival in the form of a performance from Hello June , an indie/alternative act formed in Morgantown and known for their captivating melodies and compelling songwriting.
