BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Members of the Raleigh County Commission assembled on Tuesday morning for the commission’s Regular Session meeting at which the day and time for which Halloween festivities will be observed in Raleigh County was determined.

Halloween itself falls on Thursday, October 31, 2024, and the county commission determined that Trick-or-Treat festivities would be observed on that day during the evening hours per Tuesday’s session.

“We always coordinate this, commissioners, with the City of Beckley so that we’ll be on the same page,” explained Raleigh County Administrator and recently appointed Raleigh County Grievance Coordinator, Jay Quesenberry . “The City of Beckley also is doing it on Thursday, October 31st, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm as well.”

Members of the commission approved the motion for consideration of the day and time for Halloween, 2024, determining that Trick-or-Treaters in the Raleigh County area would be free to don their spookiest attire in search of delicious sweets between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm on Halloween Day.

The meeting also saw the issuing of a county-wide burn ban for the Raleigh County area in the wake of several noted instances of brush fires and similar issues emerging over the past month. Beaver Volunteer Fire Chief, Jason Redden was in attendance for the session and declared that, according to recently attained information, the county is in a severe state of drought.

The burn ban, it was stated, has been issued as a means of protecting the lives and the property of citizens throughout Raleigh County.
