    Two injured in vehicle accident after driver falls asleep

    RANDOLPH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two people were injured following a single-vehicle crash.

    According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, September 16, 2024, a single-vehicle accident occurred on Old Route 219 near Cherry Fork Road.

    Deputy Pingley responded to the scene after the accident was reported by 911 dispatch.

    The vehicle sustained significant damage, and both the driver and passenger were injured.

    The driver told police he had fallen asleep while driving home from work in Tucker County.

    Witnesses reported that the vehicle had been traveling at the speed limit when it drifted off the right side of the road, struck several trees, and flipped before coming to rest back on the roadway.

    The condition of the injured individuals has not been disclosed.
