OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Details have emerged with regard to the upcoming 2024 Westside High School Homecoming Parade event, which is scheduled to take place next month.

The annual event will be held on October 10, 2024, with the parade lineup set to begin no earlier than 4:00pm and the parade itself set to get underway at 5:30pm sharp.

As with past iterations of the annual event, the parade procession will be held primarily in the Town of Oceana. Westside High School participants will line up beside Oceana Middle School near the gym, while feeder schools, sports teams, businesses, community organizations, and other participants will line up in the Gilliland Park area on a first come, first serve basis.

Traffic into the Oceana Middle School parking area will be restricted to vehicles participating in the parade. Individual participants will be dropped off and will join their respective groups on foot in the participant parking area.

Volunteer conductors will be facilitating the lineups, and the parade will be led by Westside High School. As such, participants and motorists have been asked not to pull out in front of or between Westside High School parade entries. Following the passing of the final Westside High participants, those lined up in the park will be directed to proceed.

All parade participants will conclude their procession at Magic Mart in Oceana Square or continue forward to Westside High School in Clear Fork. These designations have been issued as a means of facilitating post-parade traffic flow and alleviating anticipated roadway congestion.

2024 Westside High School Homecoming Parade organizers have requested patience and understanding from members of the community with regard to potential delays which stand to emerge as a result of the highly anticipated community event, stating, “Remember… be patient! We all work really hard to pull this event off… it’s a huge undertaking and we do this for the kids and for our wonderful community! It only happens once a year!”

Wyoming County Schools will observe a 3-hour early dismissal on Thursday, October 10, 2024, to allow for participation and preparation from students, staff, and members of the Wyoming County community for the parade.

Additional information on upcoming events and available resources can be found at the Westside High School website .
