HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Marshall University is set to host its first Green and White Day of the academic year on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from key departments such as financial aid, housing, and admissions.

They can also tour the campus and attend the home football game that afternoon, where the Thundering Herd will face off against Western Michigan University.

Lisa Williamson, the university’s director of Orientation, Outreach and Special Events, highlighted the value of the event for prospective students.

“Green and White Days are a way for students and parents to meet with faculty from every department and staff from our support offices, all in one location,” Williamson said.

The event also offers a firsthand look at Marshall’s college life, including its vibrant football game-day atmosphere.

The day’s schedule begins at 8:15 a.m. with check-in, followed by a Welcome Session at the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse, where attendees will hear from university leadership, including President Brad D. Smith.

Afterward, the Academic and Student Services Showcase will be held at the campus rec center, offering students and their families a chance to connect with faculty and staff from various academic and support programs.

Campus tours, residence hall visits, and a complimentary lunch at one of Marshall’s dining locations are also included in the day’s itinerary.

The Memorial Student Center Plaza will host the Student Organization Fair, where guests can interact with members of student clubs and organizations.

The day will conclude with College Experience Sessions, during which students will split into groups based on their intended majors. They will meet professors and students from their respective programs before wrapping up the day with check-out and receiving free Marshall merchandise.

Afterward, attendees can head to the football game for kickoff.

Phoebe Greco, special events coordinator at the Office of Recruitment, noted that the event helps reduce the stress of starting college.

“Having everything you need in one place for one day can help ease the anxiety of incoming students and get them a head start on their college planning,” Greco said.
