MASON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Mason County Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is warning residents to be prepared for heavy winds and rain expected to hit the area on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Storms, which could bring damaging winds shortly after dawn, may cause trees to fall and lead to widespread power outages.

Officials are advising residents to take precautionary steps, including ensuring flashlights are available and generators are fueled and ready for use in case of power loss.

The department also reminds the public to stay safe by avoiding downed power lines, never driving through flooded areas, and checking in on neighbors who may need assistance.
