BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An anonymous donor has reportedly established a new fund to benefit the Raleigh County Veterans Museum as the museum prepares to relocate to the old State Police Barracks in Beckley.

The fund, established by a career veteran of the Navy, will provide the museum with an annual income to be used at its discretion. This will provide assistance as the museum creates additional space for its already extensive artifact collection as the organization relocates to its new location, which will feature a theater and new displays, along with the museum’s existing items.

“This fund is in support of the Raleigh County Veterans and First Responders Museum. In January 2024 the museum acquired a new facility to relocate. This facility is substantially larger and better equipped, which has allowed for the transformation of the museum,” read a statement from Beckley Area Foundatio n regarding the fund. “The new museum will not only continue to provide an exceptional display of military equipment and artifacts but will now also include displays associated with first responders such as Police, Fire and EMT.”

Raleigh County Veterans Museum President, Ron Hedrick urges supporters to contribute to the newly established fund as the facility works to honor the history of veterans in West Virginia.

“Please consider donating to this fund and helping us preserve the history while honoring the memories and artifacts of our nation’s heroes,” said Hedrick. “Thank you for your support.”

Those interested in contributing to the newly established Raleigh County Veterans Museum fund may mail contributions to “Raleigh County Veterans Museum Fund” with a memo to BAF at 1210 South Kanawha St., Beckley, WV 25801.

Online donations may be made at the Beckley Area Foundation website , and those interested in starting a designated fund or leaving a legacy gift my reach out to by phone to (304) 253-3806 or by email to info@bafwv.org.
