    Power outages increasing as Helene remnants push through

    WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Thousands of people are without power in West Virginia Friday morning as heavy wind and rain from the remnants of Hurricane Helene push through the region.

    Currently, over 57,000 customers are without power in West Virginia, primarily in the southern part of the state.

    The counties with the most outages in the state include Mercer, Wyoming, Raleigh, McDowell, Monroe, Summers, and Fayette.

    Multiple downed trees have been reported throughout southern West Virginia as well.

    According to the Appalachian Power Outage Map, crews are currently assessing most outages.

    Appalachian Power reminds individuals that downed power lines are dangerous and can carry an electric current that can cause serious or even fatal injuries.

    If you encounter a fallen wire, keep yourself and other away from it and anything it may be toching and call 1-800-956-4237 or 911 immediately.
