    Turkeys raised in West Virginia

    WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – In 2024, the number of turkeys raised in West Virginia is expected to remain at 4.0 million, the same as in 2023.

    Throughout the United States, the forecast for turkey production in 2024 is 205 million, which marks a 6 percent decrease from the previous year.

    The top six states produce 67 percent of all turkeys in the country.

    Minnesota leads with 33.5 million turkeys, experiencing a 13 percent drop from last year. North Carolina follows with 27.5 million turkeys, down 5 percent. Arkansas produced 25.0 million turkeys, a 7 percent decrease from the prior year. Indiana’s production stayed steady at 20.0 million turkeys, while Missouri saw a 9 percent decline, totaling 15.5 million. Virginia’s numbers also fell slightly by 1 percent to 15.4 million turkeys.
