    Virginia State Police searching for missing man with autism

    COVINGTON, VA (LOOTPRESS) – Virginia State Police have issued a missing person alert for Michael Jay Taylor, a 37-year-old man diagnosed with autism.

    The alert was released on behalf of the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office after Taylor was reported missing on October 1, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. He was last seen on Valley Ridge Road in Covington, Virginia.

    Taylor is described as a white male, standing 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 195 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He also wears glasses.

    Authorities note that Taylor may be driving a 2015 black Chevrolet Impala, though the license plate is unknown.

    Given Taylor’s diagnosis of autism, police are concerned for his health and safety.

    Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 965-1770 or visit the Virginia State Police website for further updates.

    If seen, the public is advised to call 911 immediately.
