BEVERLY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A tractor-trailer rollover near Citizens Bank in Beverly caused significant traffic delays on Wednesday morning.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), led by Deputy Pingley, responded to the scene following a 911 call reporting the accident.

According to the RCSO, the semi had detached from its trailer while navigating a turn, causing the trailer to overturn and spill lumber onto the road.

Despite the damage to the rear of the truck, the semi remained upright, and the driver was not injured.

A Jeep that was traveling in the area narrowly avoided a serious accident, as the vehicle sustained damage to its hardtop when lumber struck it. Fortunately, the driver of the Jeep was unharmed.

An investigation determined that equipment failure was the cause of the accident.

Witnesses reported that the truck driver was not speeding and had vehicles both in front of and behind him. The malfunction occurred when the truck’s fifth wheel broke, causing the trailer to detach.

Assistance was provided on-site by the Beverly Fire Department, Elkins Trucking, and the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT).

No injuries were reported, and traffic resumed after delays.
