HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Hinton Railroad Days is entering its third and final day today and the festival has been nothing short of a success.

On Friday, dozens arrived on the first day of the festival by train via Amtrak, and on Sunday even more arrived by train as Amtrak from Huntington to Hinton was completely sold out.

Railroad Days has been the biggest weekend for Hinton since its inception.

The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the history and heritage of the Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Railway, which was responsible for the development of Hinton. The railroad was Hinton’s lifeline.

This year, a wide array of food and craft vendors lined Temple Street selling something for everyone to enjoy from homemade woodworking, photography, and some good hot dogs and ice cream.

Railroad Days isn’t the only opportunity to ride the train to Hinton.

If you’d like to visit Hinton by train, you can do so three days out of the week. The Amtrak Cardinal from Chicago to New York runs on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays twice a day.

The eastbound train arrives in the morning and the westbound train arrives in the evening. One could make it back home in the same day if catching the eastbound train first.

The Amtrak Cardinal makes stops in Huntington, Charleston, Montgomery, Thurmond, Prince, Hinton, Alderson, and White Sulphur Springs in West Virginia.
