Man violently beats woman with cast iron “hot plate”

GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is facing charges after a woman was found covered in blood after being violently beating with cast iron “hot plate”.

On October 14, 2024, at approximately 12:30 pm, Lt. S.W. Hudnall of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a 911 dispatch call reporting a physical altercation at 287 Anderson Street in Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, West Virginia. The caller stated that a male and female were engaged in a fight in the front yard.

When Deputy Helmick and Ronceverte Patrolman King arrived on the scene first, they did not see anyone outside. As they approached the front door, they could hear yelling coming from inside, but no one answered the door. Lt Hundall arrived shortly after and, along with the two other officers, began walking around the house to see if they could spot anyone in a window.

As Hundall circled to the back of the residence, he noticed an open window. Parting the curtains, he observed a person’s head lying next to the window on a bed. He repeatedly called out “Sheriff’s Office,” and the person, later identified as the female victim, raised up and saw her face was covered in blood. He instructed her to open the door.

Soon after, he heard a male voice, later identified as Kevin Stocks, ask they were leaving. The victim then opened the front door. As Deputy Helmick spoke with her, Hundall entered the home and was met in the living room by an intoxicated, bloody male, Mr. Stocks. He would not cooperate with questions, only insisting that they take him to his aunt’s house.

Hundall observed multiple injuries on Mr. Stocks, including blood dripping from his left arm, gashes, and blood on his stomach. Due to his uncooperative and combative behavior, he detained him in handcuffs. While Patrolman King stayed with Mr. Stocks, Hubdall searched for his identification and found a bloody kitchen knife in the bathroom sink, along with blood on the floor.

The female’s injuries were also substantial – a broken cast iron “hot plate” had been used to strike her on the head and leg, and she had bruises, scratches, and a puncture wound. She stated that when law enforcement arrived, Mr. Stocks had taken the knife into the bathroom and began cutting himself to make it appear that she had attacked him.

The scene also showed extensive property damage, with broken cabinet doors, drawers, and dishes, which the victim attributed to Mr. Stocks’ erratic behavior.

She refused medical treatment, but Mr. Stocks was transported to the ER for his injuries before being taken to jail.
