BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An inmate at Southern Regional Jail is facing new charges after he was caught with methamphetamine.

On Friday, October 11th, 2024, at approximately 9:05 p.m., a state trooper responded to Southern Regional Jail in Beaver, West Virginia, following reports of an inmate in possession of contraband. Upon arrival at the facility, located at 1200 Airport Road, the trooper was met by Correctional Officer Lt. Z. Pegram, who handed over an evidence bag containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

According to a statement provided by Correctional Officer Munoz, the contraband was discovered during an unclothed body search of inmate Alexander Doty. The methamphetamine was found hidden in Doty’s pants. The inmate confirmed that the substance was indeed methamphetamine and acknowledged that it had been found on him.

no you can sneak it in their body searches are a joke compared and they essentially (the one time I was there for a couple hours) they just let me go and change they didn't have a staff member with me or anything. but I wouldn't put it passed the guards SRJ has been in the paper so many times for multiple issues abuse from staff to inmates, poor environmental conditions which I can absolutely attest I've been to jails I'm Detroit that were more well kept. that jail needs to be shut down and they need to start new hiring and all
