ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – This month, Concord University recognized National Physician Assistant week, which celebrates physician assistants each year from October 6th to October 12th.

The American Academy of Physician Assistants recognized over 178,000 PAs throughout the world, with Concord joining in on the celebration in preparation for the school’s forthcoming Physician Assistant Program.

Physician assistants apply their master’s degree-level education to practicing medicine in every specialty and setting. These dedicated healthcare professionals are committed to implementing their rigorous training to transforming wellness and health through team-based medical practice.

Concord University anticipates that its inaugural Physician Assistant Program will be matriculated in August 2025 pending achieving Accreditation.

“PAs are educated at the master’s degree level and Concord University is excited to be accepting students into our inaugural class, starting August 2025,” said Concord University in a statement regarding National Physician Assistant Week. “The program at CU is 28 months: 16 months of didactic education, followed by 12 months of clinical rotations. To practice as a PA, graduates must have graduated from an accredited PA program and pass a national certification exam.”
