LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) has announced intentions to sign an agreement with representatives of the Greenbrier Military School Alumni Assocation to ensure the continuation of the Greenbrier Military School Museum’s curation.

The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine operates at the former location of the Greenbrier Military School, with the main building of the medical school having served as the central structure for GMS. The GMS Museum sits at the north wing of WVSOM’s Roland P. Sharp Alumni Center Conference Center.

The singing of the agreement is scheduled to take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the WVSOM campus in Lewisburg following the signing of Senate Bill 2020 by GMS alumni, Governor Jim Justice. Senate Bill 2020, which passed through the West Virginia Legislature on October 7, 2024, will provide the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine with $13.6 million in funds for deferred maintenance.

The signing of Senate Bill 2020 and the GMS Museum curation agreement are expected to take place at the Roland P. Sharp Alumni Center Conference Center on Friday afternoon.

The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and Greenbrier Military School Museum are located at 400 Lee Street in the Lewisburg area of Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
