    6-year-old killed, attacked by family dog in Lorain, police say

    LORAIN , Ohio (WJW) — A 6-year-old boy is dead after being attacked by a family dog on Wednesday afternoon, according to Lorain police.

    Officers responded just after 4 p.m. to a home in the 1700 block of East 31st Street, and began investigating, according to a news release.

    “Officers were notified that the male was pronounced dead from injuries sustained during the attack, at which time the Lorain Police Detective Bureau and Lorain County Coroner’s Office responded to continue the investigation,” reads the release.

    The Friendship Animal Protective League in Elyria also responded and assisted in the investigation, according to the release.

    Police did not release any more details on Wednesday afternoon, citing the ongoing investigation.
