A Tangipahoa Parish grand jury issued an indictment Thursday, charging 36-year-old Daniel Callihan with first-degree murder in the death of Callie Brunett, and second-degree kidnapping of Brunett's daughters, 6-year-old Jalie and 4-year-old Erin.

The grand jury also indicted Victoria Cox on charges of murder, kidnapping, and being an accessory after the fact.

The crimes last week set off an Amber Alert for the missing girls, after their mother was found stabbed to death in her home in Loranger.

Callihan was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi, where authorities found the girls. Jalie was injured but alive; Erin was found dead.

Mississippi authorities are pursing charged for Erin Brunett's death, and federal charges could also be coming.

Callihan and Cox remain jailed in Mississippi.

D.A. Scott Perrilloux says he has not made a final decision yet if he will seek the death penalty.

"The indicted offenses do carry the death penalty... I would just like the opportunity to have more of a discussion with the family about this," he told reporters.

Callihan and Cox could also face death penalty prosecutions in Mississippi and in Federal Court.  Perrilloux said he hopes to be able to try to pair first.  The FBI, however, has told WWL First News that the feds intend to go first.
