Balloon fest to feature two hand-painted hot air balloons
WAUSAU – The Taste and Glow Balloon Fest will host two Charles Markert hand-painted hot air balloons July 12 and 13. Charles Markert of Excelsior, Minnesota, is a large-scale artist who is credited for free-hand painting more than 50 hot air balloon envelopes. The artist’s son and daughter-in-law, pilots Tim and Jodi Markert, will fly the balloons throughout the weekend and will make themselves available to answer questions about them.

Brooklyn Center Teen Remembered After Accidental Quarry Drowning
Seventeen-year-old Emmanuel Seward, Jr., of Brooklyn Center was identified as the victim of an accidental drowning at a Waite Park quarry. According to a release from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, a young man jumped off a 10-foot-high cliff into the water at the Quarry Park and Nature Preserve on Tuesday afternoon. Officers responded to the call shortly after 4 p.m. Searchers found him four hours later in 31 feet of water.
