Maple Grove house rental ordinance approved
Under a new ordinance approved at Monday’s city council meeting, leaders enacted a new ordinance for owners that would require them to pass annual inspections/Maple Grove Police Department safety trainings, and pay a $200 annual fee/one-time $400 conversion fee, in order to maintain a rental property within the city after repeat violations.
Hopkins Baseball Loses to Bemidji in Gopher Classic
The Hopkins American Legion baseball team lost its final pool play game of the Gopher Classic tournament Sunday, missing out on a chance to advance to Monday’s bracket play. The Flyers lost 13-0 in five innings to Bemidji. Both teams had gone 4-0 in pool play heading into the game, but Bemidji scored seven runs in the top of the second inning to put the game out of reach early and added two more runs in the third and four in the fifth.

Hennepin County deputies help with RNC security
MILWAUKEE — Deputies with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office are in Wisconsin this week helping with security for the Republican National Convention. The RNC kicked off Monday and goes for the next four days in Milwaukee.
