Virginia Department of Health employee embezzles more than $4M in fraud scheme
A former employee who funneled millions of dollars from the Virginia Department of Health into a fake business account pled guilty Thursday to the scheme. Adam Lamar Harrell, 41, of Midlothian, faced charges including mail fraud, federal program theft and tax evasion. In total, Harrell received $4,337,395 in funds obtained illegally.

Mass. woman, NJ passenger ID’d in fatal Maryland crash; 2nd driver injured
A Lowell woman and her passenger both died in a Maryland crash on Wednesday, according to Maryland State Police. Norma Matthews, 81, was found dead when first responders arrived, state police said in a statement.
