Easy 3-Ingredient Strawberry Dump Cake is a Delicious Summer Dessert

Strawberry Dump Cake is one of the easiest, most mouth-watering desserts you can make. With just three ingredients, no bowls and no measuring cups, this recipe takes only a few minutes to prepare and requires minimal clean-up. All you do is sprinkle dry yellow cake mix onto strawberry pie filling then top it off with cold pats of butter.

While I've seen this recipe made with a single 21-ounce can of strawberry filling, you really need two to create a nice warm, gooey bottom layer that balances out the buttery crisp topping. If you want to add even more flavor, mix sliced strawberries into the pie filling or spread them across the top of the cake before you bake it.

Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or dust with powdered sugar. Or reheat a bowlful the next day in your microwave and top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

    Strawberry Dump Cake

    Ingredients

2 (21-ounce) cans strawberry pie filling

1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) cold butter, sliced into 24 square pats

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.

    2. Pour the strawberry pie filling into the baking dish and spread it to create an even layer.

    3. Scatter the dry cake mix over the top of the pie filling. Smooth it out with a spatula so the filling is entirely covered. (Don't mix the layers together.)

    4. Place the 24 pieces of butter over the top of the yellow cake mix, making sure the butter covers the cake mix as evenly as possible.

    5. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes until the top of the cake is golden and the filling is bubbly around the edges.

    6. Serve warm and top with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

    Notes

This cake will keep in the refrigerator for 4 days.

Try different flavors like chocolate, white or strawberry cake mix.

Top with fresh strawberries to make the dessert prettier.

You can also add fresh strawberries to the filling then scatter some additional sliced, washed strawberries onto the surface of the cake (over the butter slices). Keep in mind you'll need to add additional bake time.
