LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man described as bedridden died Monday in a house fire in South Los Angeles.

Firefighters sent to the 2500 block of West 74th Street about 10:35 a.m. extinguished the flames in about 15 minutes, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

According to the LAFD, there were no smoke alarms in the 101-year-old home, but an "elder female" who lived in the residence was able to escape from the rear of the home.

"Sadly, her elder male bedridden spouse was discovered lifeless in front of the residence," according to the fire department.

    No other injuries were reported.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the man. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
