GH Stars Join Rally to Demand Justice for Johnny Wactor

On the June 12 episode of General Hospital , the soap memorialized Johnny Wactor (Brando) at the end of the broadcast with a title card. It’s fitting that the tribute came on the same afternoon that his friends and family members rallied together in downtown Los Angeles to demand justice for Wactor, who was senselessly murdered on May 25 after he approached three men attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his car.

Upon meeting at Pico Boulevard and Hope Street, where Wactor was killed, his friends and family held a press conference, urging local leaders to take action against the violence. Wactor had wrapped up a bartending shift at Level 8 Restaurant and Lounge shortly before he was shot and killed, and the suspects have yet to be apprehended. After the press conference, dozens of Wactor’s supporters marched nearly four miles to City Hall, where they urged leaders to offer a reward to catch the killer and make Los Angeles a safer city.

Among Wactor’s GH colleagues who attended the gathering were Parry Shen (Brad), Bonnie Burroughs (ex-Gladys), Lydia Look (Selina), Joyce Guy (ex-Phyllis), Josh Kelly (Cody), and his girlfriend, Chloe Lanier (ex-Nelle). Shen shared several photos and videos from the rally on social media, along with a thoughtful account of the emotional event.

“Being at the actual location of Johnny’s murder during the press conference elicited a wide array of emotions,” he confessed. “Wondering how Johnny must have felt at the time: anger/fear/confusion. What obviously makes this so difficult is that this was not someone who perished from an illness or freak accident. But that the perpetrators are still at large.

“Johnny always surrounded himself with good people,” Shen continued. “And I wanted to be among them all. Life moves on. And Johnny would want us to continue to celebrate the wins and beauty in our lives. And I have. But until these criminals are found (and I am ever hopeful they will be), it will be impossible to not think, ‘Johnny would’ve liked to have seen this too.’”

Wactor’s funeral is slated to take place on Saturday, June 15, near his hometown in South Carolina.
