Kendrick Lamar Performs ‘Not Like Us’ 5 Times At Iconic Juneteenth Show, Brings Together 25 LA Artists: ‘This Won’t Be The Last Of Us’

Kendrick Lamar showed up and showed out for Juneteenth Wednesday, putting on an epic show, Ken and Friends — The Pop Out, during which he brought out 25 of Los Angeles’ most prolific artists to join the performance. According to The Hollywood Reporter , some of the “fiends” who joined Lamar at the Kia Forum in Inglewood included, Tyler the Creator, YG, Roddy Ricch, Ty Dolla $ign, Dom Kennedy, Steve Lacy and more.

“This is unity, y’all just don’t know man,” the Compton emcee said as the group posed for a photo. Meanwhile, he urged his stage-mates to say, “One West.”

“Everybody got fallen sons but we’re right here, right now celebrating all of them, this shit is special,” he also said.

Mustard, another L.A. native and producer of Lamar’s viral Drake diss track “Not Like Us,” was also in attendance. He created a set that Lacy walked out to, and led a moment of silence for late Crenshaw rapper Nipsey Hussle. During Lamar’s set, his former Black Hippy group mates, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock, joined him on stage. Later, to fans’ delight, Dr. Dre also joined the celebration of west coast rap, performing his 1999 hit “Still D.R.E” and “California Love.”

Though the night was about honoring west coast’s influence on rap and hip-hop, Lamar dedicated a good portion of his set to performing tracks from his recent rap beef with Drake. After kicking off his set by performing “Euphoria,” during which the Compton native remixed one of the lyrics with a new insult about the Degrassi alum, rapping, “Give me Tupac’s ring back and I might give you a little respect.” Later in the evening, he also rapped his verse to Future and Metro Boomin’s track “Like That,” which sparked his beef with Drake. He concluded the show with his Not Like Us,” performing it a whopping five times.

Lamar also played his beloved hits during the show, including “M.A.A.d City,” “Be Humble,” “DNA.,” “Element.,” “Money Trees,” “Swimming Pools,” “King Kunta” and “King’s Dead.”

The show kicked off with opening performances by local L.A. acts alongside DJ Hed. The lineup included rappers like Ray Vaughn, Cuzzos, Westside Boogie, Zoe Osama, RJMRLA, OhGeesy and Jason Martin.

At the end of the concert, Lamar reunited the show’s performers and noted what a powerful union the evening saw.

“Let them see this,” he said. “We put this together with peace… I promise this won’t be the last of us.”
