Former Philadelphia 76er JJ Redick has agreed to a four-year deal to become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

"[Lakers GM Rob] Pelinka became sold on Redick’s ability to connect with players and his basketball IQ and believes surrounding him with an elite coaching staff will help to shorten the learning curve into his first coaching job, sources said," Woj tweeted .

Redick, 39, has no coaching experience and spent the past few NBA seasons as an analyst for ESPN.

was the 11th overall pick in 2006 and played in the NBA until 2021. Redick played for the Sixers in 2017-18 and 2018-19, averaging a career-best 17.6 points per game on 44.9 FG% / 40.7 3P% / 89.9 FT% shooting splits.

Redick finished his career with 1,950 made three pointers, good for 20th most in NBA history. His 41.4 career three-point percentage is 18th all-time.

Redick recently started a new podcast called "Mind the Game" with LeBron James, who has a 2024-25 player option worth $51.4 million with the Lakers.

James' deadline to make his decision is June 29th.
